I'd recommend the back-issue bin of Tom DeFalco's Spider-Girl but be careful as there's a new character debuting with that name.

Otherwise, it's difficult to find straight up superhero comics that aren't either dumbed down, part of massive cross-overs/mega-storylines, heroes being the bad guys, gratuitous in the gore or language, or just subject to so many retcons and changes that the characters are no longer recognizable. Add in that I also tend to shy away from "family" books such as Batman, Superman, Spider-man, etc if for no other reason that to properly follow one, you are often required to follow the whole line. Even if that's not true this month, you can bet you won't go for a whole year without it happening.

It's sad that when every time my fiance's pre-teen nieces and nephews visit, to find them comics to read, I pretty much have to resort to trades of stories over ten years old or Archie and Cartoon Network comics. Even if the content isn't objectionable, the comic is nonsense if you don't have all six issues of the storyline on hand.cash_gormanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04016914226368450646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37355934.post-18595204941718771842010-11-17T10:54:21.411-05:002010-11-17T10:54:21.411-05:00I don't even have a notion of what's happe...I don't even have a notion of what's happening with DC and Marvel anymore. I gave up on DC finally with the Green Lantern splash page that had Black Hand blowing his own brains out. Those characters remain somewhat safe in my own fading memory, but they aren't really lingering around these days.Chuck Wellshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04529750105224374839noreply@blogger.com
